“You can lead a whorticulture, but you can’t make her think....”

I started this as a blog in which I could express my candid takes on modern culture, told from the unique perspective of someone who loved sex so much that at one time, I was getting paid for it. I’ve been a sugar baby, an escort, a thrower of orgies, an organizer of kink communities, and more. Having grown up in a ultra conservative home, it took me years to feel comfortable enough to express my nature and explore my desires. This is a blog of thoughtful exploration, brutal honesty, and tender connection.

The word ‘whore’ is generally defined as a derogatory synonym for a prostitute, but in modern uses it is also a slur for any woman who is sexually promiscuous or behaves/dresses in overtly sexual ways. It is an attempt to shame a woman for indulging in her sexuality, oftentimes a sexuality that she’s taught to perform for the enjoyment of a male gaze. Whorticulture is an offhand pun-portmanteau that first started as a joke that I am now reclaiming to redefine the term ‘whore’ as a woman who takes ownership of her sexuality/ can profit off of it as she chooses to, and ‘horticulture,’ the practice of cultivating and managing a living entity with the purpose of seeing it thrive.

In short, I seek to take female sexuality and the ways it is commodified by culture, and find new ways to reclaim it for my own enjoyment, and as a tool by which I can nurture better personal feminist practices in our broader communities and dismantle exploitative structures.
